On Saturday, the government unveiled a new scheme offering young people a year of paid work training in the army.

Although details aren’t fully confirmed yet, the ‘military gap year’ is intended to boost the army’s numbers and ‘reconnect society with our forces’.

While young people face a job shortage, low pay and poor working conditions, the government has once again come empty handed.

In fact, they’ve come with recruitment papers to sign your life away.

We must reject the funneling of young people to the defence industry, and instead offer more choices and new opportunities.
