The people have spoken – Zack Polanski is a victory for the British left.
Yesterday, Zack Polanski was announced as the Green Party’s new leader – winning by a massive 17,000 votes, 84.6% of the vote. He wants to cement himself as an eco-populist figurehead for the British left – and clearly it’s working.
He stated yesterday: “My message to Labour is very clear: we are not here to be disappointed by you. We are not here to be concerned by you. We are here to replace you.”
The concern for many left wing Britons is whether or not ‘Your Party’ and the Greens will end up splitting the vote for the British left if they do not cooperate.
Polanski has stated that it is too early to say whether or not the two parties will work together ahead of the next general election, whilst Corbyn took to social media to congratulate the new leader – stating that he ‘looks forward to working together to create a fairer and kinder world.’
Polanski has made clear his positions on important issues such Palestine – standing against the genocide and calling out Starmer and the British government for their complicity in these war crimes.
He has also been a prominent campaigner for LGBTQ+ issues, free school meals, and free bus travel.
In a letter to green party members, Polanski writes ‘I’m aware of how much work there is ahead of us, for me, and our entire Party. With Reform on the rise, our country is on a dangerous precipice, but we know we have the solutions to the crises we’re facing. Together, we can rise to this moment.’
