Leonardo Dicaprio’s investment in a new hotel on Tel Aviv’s beachfront has just received full approval by the Israeli government.

In partnership with real-estate firm Hagag Group, the hotel will supposedly feature an eco-friendly design and will stand at 14 stories tall.

As a UN Messenger of Peace for Climate Change, Dicaprio seems to not have any concerns about ‘peace’, let alone the climate – the hotel will feature a yacht marina, allowing mega-rich visitors to park their ocean destroying boats while they visit. Sounds really environmentally safe, Leo.

Dicaprio clearly knows how to do PR – as a climate ‘activist’ he can throw a bit of money at charities and urge world leaders to ‘take action’ but in real terms does nothing to counter climate breakdown or support ‘peace’.

This is far from his first investment in Israel, however, having invested in numerous Israeli businesses over the years, including in a cultured meat startup.

Clearly, Leonardo doesn’t actually care about the environment, much less the genocide that is going on not far from the Israeli capital. His actions will directly help to fund genocide, bringing more money to the Israeli war machine that could – if he wanted – actually go to saving lives or stopping climate breakdown. But that wouldn’t make him more money, the poor guy.

We must send a clear message to the super-rich who fund genocide, by taking away their ability to invest in such practises. Boycott, divest, sanction.
